Hijama Therapy - Revival of Sunnah
NOTE: Hijama Therapy Service is available for Men and Women. Himaja for Women is performed by Certified Female Hijama Therapist
Hijama is revival of Sunnah and promoting health with naturopathy. ‘Hijama’ in arabic is derived from ‘Hajm’ which means ‘sucking’. Hijama is also known as cupping therapy which is the process of applying cups to various points on the body by extracting toxic blood by creating vaccum inside the cups.
Hijama is the best remedy recommended and used by our Messenger (ﷺ). The Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Indeed the best of remedies patients have Hijama” [Saheeh al-Bukharee{5371)].
Al Hijama is a minor surgical excretory procedure, where negative pressure applied to skin surface using small cups creates skin uplifting inside which local pressure correspondingly decreases around capillaries (Boyle’s law). This causes increased capillary filtration, local collation of filtered fluids, lymph and interstitial fluids and their retention inside skin uplifting. This dilutes chemical substances, inflammatory mediators, nociceptive substances, bathes nerve ending in collected fluids and breaks tissue adhesions causing decreased pain (Taibah theory for dry cupping therapy).
On removing the cups, dramatic increase in skin blood flow occurs (reactive hyperemia). Scarifications of surface of skin uplifting opened skin barrier for evacuation of fluids with Causative Pathological Substances and prevents their absorption at venous capillary end. Immediate second cupping pressure is transmitted through skin incisions to create a pressure gradient and a traction force across the skin and capillaries leading to excretion of collected interstitial fluids (including lymph) with Causative Pathological Substances, filtration of capillary fluids containing Causative Pathological Substances, bleeding at puncture sites and increased release of endogenous opioids (analgesic effect)
